John Clifton Baird, age 61 of Ashburn, VA, died peacefully on January 18, 2015. He was born on July 20, 1953, in Louisville, KY. He was predeceased by his mother, Zera Duvall Baird. He was also predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Tirl W. and Nancy Duvall; and his paternal grandparents, Estil (Bonnie White) Baird.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Baird; his father, Clifton Eugene (Mary Lee) Baird; his son, John Andrew Baird; his daughters, Corlyss Duvall (Kevin) Cigler; and Kristen Elisabeth (Scott) Hoefke; stepson, Brian Melton; and stepdaughter, Christina (T.J.) Haller; and Ashley Campbell. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Eleanor Corlyss Cigler, James Everett Cigler, Sophie Lorraine Haller and Natalie Elizabeth Haller.

John graduated from Waggener High School in Louisville, KY, received his BS in Engineering from Purdue University, and he received his Master's from George Washington University. John retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, having also earned the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star. After retiring from the Navy, he specialized in Information Security. His most recent role was Senior Security Specialist for IBM.
John has always held a special place in his heart for his feline friends. He danced his way into the hearts of many, enjoying swing dancing, civil war reenactments, and Beatles music.

Family and Friends are invited to share the memories on Thursday, January 22, 2015 between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd, NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176 where a service will immediately follow starting at 7:00 pm.

Burial to take place on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 3:00pm in Arlington National Cemetery.
