Obituary

John R. Cornelius, Jr.
"Bobby"
(September 28, 1934 – June 6, 2013)
Bobby was the proud son of John R. (Bob) and Ada Elizabeth Smith Cornelius. As a child he lived in Bailey's Cross Roads and moved to Arcola, VA at the age of 8 where he lived until 2010 when he moved to Bedford, VA to be closer to his daughter.
Bobby joined the army when he graduated high school where he served in Germany. He married the love of his life, Jo Ann, on New Year's Day when he was home on leave. Upon returning home he worked on the family farm and joined the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Treasurer for many years. In the early 60's he bought his first dump truck and the second love of his life was born, his daughter, Trisia. Over the years, he drove dump trucks and semi trucks until he retired. Trucks and antique red tractors were his passions; as well as growing tomatoes and potatoes. Just the sound of a well tuned tractor would make him smile. The most important thing to him though was his family and his dedication to them will be greatly missed.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Jo Ann of Bedford, VA; his daughter Trisia Lowery and her husband Al of Forest, VA; his brother Andrew Cornelius and his wife Sue of Bedford, VA; his sister Mary Catherine Preston and her husband Charles of Hamilton, VA; his nephews Tommy Cornelius of Brunswick, MD and Robert Cornelius and his wife Bernie of Mechanicsville, VA; and great nephew and great nieces Ian, Dakota, Emily, and Betsy.
The family will receive friends at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. The funeral will begin at noon with interment immediately following at Union Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at Leesburg Community Church, 835 Lee Avenue SW, Leesburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department, Moneta Rescue Squad, or American Diabetes Association. Please leave condolences at www.colonialfuneralhome.com.
