John "Jack" Dwyer of Palm Coast, Florida and Ashburn, VA passed peacefully at his home in Ashburn on Saturday, May 30 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his eight children and his eighteen grandchildren.
Jack attended Boston College and graduated with a degree in economics. It was there he met Claire, and they remained married for 52 years until her passing in 2009. He served in the US Navy for 4 years and after marrying Claire he started his career at Raytheon, outside of Boston, MA, where both he and Claire were born. He climbed the corporate ladder and finished his career as director of contracts for GTE in Reston, VA.
He retired and moved to Florida where he spent years enjoying time on the lanai, relaxing, going to the gym, church, playing golf and hosting many visits by the children. He and Claire also loved going to the dog track and playing cribbage. They had a special place in their hearts for Ireland, traveled there every year, and passed this gift on to their children.
The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to Dr. John Mamana for his help, compassion and friendship over the years. We know our father was in very good hands. We will dearly miss him, but his memory will live on in our hearts.
