Obituary

Reverend John Chauncey Gindlesperger, 82, of Leesburg, Virginia entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior on September 11, 2010. Born on November 13, 1927 in Hollsopple, Pennsylvania, he was a son of John and Florence Pearl (Poynter) Gindlesperger. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Glendon and Ronald Gindlesperger; and his sisters Georgia Young, Mary Boyd, Rebecca Penner, Beverly Bradley, Shirley Miller and Florence Gindlesperger. Surviving are sisters Laura Moors of Ohio and Vera Stutzman of Johnstown, Pennsylvania along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

John was a WWII Navy veteran. He then was called by Christ into the ministry, and attended Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia. "Brother John" was a minister in the Southern Baptist Convention for over 40 years. He was pastor of East End Baptist Church in Bluefield, West Virginia, and later of Mount Hope Baptist Church in Arcola, Virginia from 1962 until his retirement in 1992. After retirement, he joined the congregation of Leesburg Baptist Church and served in many volunteer positions at the church. Brother John was a devoted brother and a spiritual leader to his family.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Leesburg Community Church, 835 Lee Avenue SW, Leesburg, Virginia 20175 on October 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will take place in Pennsylvania. Brother John made his wishes known that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to Mount Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 42507 Mount Hope Road, Ashburn, Virginia 20147.
