John Wesley Tiedemann, 85, of Leesburg, VA, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at his home. He was born on September 9, 1925 in Spring Lake, NJ to the late George and Melvina Tiedemann. John was also predeceased by his wife, Doris Tiedemann and daughter, Kathryn Harris.
John was a very active man who didn't like to sit and relax for too long! He spent much of his time serving his church and community by singing in the choir and volunteering. He loved the outdoors and would never pass up the chance to go fishing. He also enjoyed reading and writing and even published a book of his poetry, titled 'Living the Words,' which was inspired by his love of God and Life.
John is survived by his wife, Naomi Milbourne of Leesburg, VA; his brother, Herb Tiedemann ; his sister, Dorothy Fry of Nyack, NY; his son, John Tiedemann and his wife, Claudia of Lovettsville, VA; his daughter, Theresa White and her husband, Bob of Williamsburg, VA. John is also survived by eight grandchildren: Christopher Harris, Kimberly Harris Cover, Erika Tiedemann Moore, Tara Bohannon Sagman, Renee Tiedemann Limpawuchara, Christie Bohannon Cramer, Steven Bohannon, and Ryan Tiedemann; he is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by two step-daughters, Wanda Carroll of Hamilton and Carroll Will of Reston, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Harmony United Methodist Church, 380 East Colonial Hwy, Hamilton, VA 20158 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Steven Vineyard officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kathryn Harris Fund at the Hamilton United Methodist Church in Neptune, NJ (858 Old Corlies Avenue Neptune City, NJ 07753) or the Building Loan at the Harmony United Methodist Church in Hamilton, VA (380 East Colonial Hwy, Hamilton, VA 20158).
