March 21, 1953 – October 23, 2017
John Floyd Udy of Sterling, Virginia passed away October 23, 2017 at Inova Loudoun Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was 64. John was born in Great Falls, Montana. He was the son of an Air Force officer and lived in several states and overseas before the family settled in McLean,Virginia.
John had worked for many years at B & M Exxon in McLean and later was employed by the Mitre Corporation and the United States Senate Gift Shop. He was an avid golfer and for a number of years had worked as an umpire at high school baseball games in Northern Virginia. You would not find a bigger fan of the Redskins or Nationals.
John is preceeded in death by his wife, Wanda Skinner Udy, parents Frank and Jackie Udy and brother Frank. John is survived by four children, John Udy, Jennifer Hornbaker, Janice Udy and Kristin Udy. John had eight grandchildren, Dawson, Anna, Cord, Jake, John Robert, Maddison, Jacqueline and Sophia. Other survivors include his four sisters, Vickie Scott, Sandra Udy, Cheryl Udy, and twin sister Julie Gill, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his good friends and neighbors who helped John during his illness. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contribution be made to local cancer societies or animal rescue.
Family will receive friends between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg,VA 20176 where services will immediately follow starting at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow in Sterling Cemetery.
