John Villano passed away at his home on January 15, 2011, after a year long battle with cancer. Mr. Villano was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on September 19, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Clelia Villano, brothers Vincent and Dominic, and his beloved wife Maria.
Mr. Villano served in the United States Army for 20 years during the Korean War and Vietnam War. After retiring from military service, he worked as a customs inspector at BWI Airport in Baltimore for many years while living in Severna Park, Maryland. Shortly after his retirement from this position, he and his wife, Maria, moved to Ashburn, Virginia, where they both resided until their respective deaths. Mr. Villano will be remembered for his thirst for knowledge, keen sense of humor, love of travel, and love of family.
He is survived by his twin sister, Agnes Nastri (Dr. Joseph); sister, Phyllis Bertini (Nino); brother, Alfred Villano (Edith); son, Robert Villano (Christina); son, Wayne Villano; daughter, Debra Ray (Jeffrey ); grandchildren, Michael, James, Victoria, Evan and Francesca and countless nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, Virginia, on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Theresa's Church in Ashburn, Virginia, on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be take place at the Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland, on January 21, at 10:45 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
