John David Washington, beloved father, husband, son and coach was born September 26, 1964 in Leesburg, Virginia to William and Shirley (Sims) Washington. After fighting a courageous battle with leukemia, John transitioned from this life on June 8, 2018 at the Adler Center for Caring in Aldie, Virginia. His wife was by his side.

John was a star athlete at Loudoun Valley High School where he graduated in 1982, and was later inducted into the Hall of Fame. He continued his football career at Emory and Henry College where he graduated in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration. John later moved to Leesburg, Virginia where he worked for Dowty Aerospace as a contract billing analyst and later as an accountant for Magnavox. On October 2, 1993 he married the love of his life, the former Lisa Renee Andrews, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. They lived in Ashburn, Virginia for several years before making a home in Round Hill, Virginia where John was an active member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, serving on the board of trustees. John was employed as a contracts accounting supervisor with Software AG for over 25 years. He enjoyed working and coaching boys' football for ULYFL, boys' basketball for WLBL and CBC as well as girls' soccer. An avid sports enthusiast, John enjoyed playing golf with friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.

John is survived by his wife Lisa of Fredericksburg, Virginia, his son Andrew David Washington, his daughter Jaylen Renee Washington and his youngest son Isaiah James Washington, his parents William and Shirley (Sims) Washington, his uncles Lonnie Allen Sims and Austin Spencer, his aunts Grace Lynn Spencer, Dorothy Mae Sanders, Jacqueline Sims and Ernice G. Sims, his mother-in-law Florence Evelyn Andrews, his brother-in-law Gus Oliver Andrews, his sisters-in-law Pamela Roxanne Andrews and Tolaya Andrews, and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the staff of Loudoun County Hospital for the supportive and welcoming environment provided to John for the last weeks of his life, and to the staff of the Adler Center for Caring for the attentive and compassionate care given to John in the last days and hours of his life as well as the uplifting support given to his family. They are eternally grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love and support from the community shown to them throughout John's battle.

Family will receive friends between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Community Church, 19790 Ashburn Rd, Ashburn, Virginia 20147 where services will immediately follow starting at 12:00 pm.  Interment to follow in Grace Annex Cemetery, Lincoln, Virginia.
