Obituary

John  "Jack" W. Byers, husband, father, and veteran passed away on May 5, 2020, 3 days after his 91st birthday. He was born in Gastonville, PA, to the late William and Elizabeth Byers. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Byers and three brothers, Howard, Cecil and Donald.  He graduated from Snowden Township High Hchool and then shortly afterwards he was drafted into the Army.  During this time he successfully completed airborne training. He was then transferred to the Korean theater of war. John reached the rank of Sargent before being honorably discharged.

Taking  advantage of the GI Bill John attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He then moved with his young family to Falls Church, Virginia so he could go to work for Capital Airlines.  After switching his career to air conditioning and heating the family moved to Leesburg, VA in the early 1960's and except for a few years in Leesburg, FL he had lived there ever since. John continued his career in HVAC until he retired as a Factory Sales Representative for York.   He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Commander of Leesburg Post 1177. He was also a member of the local Lions Club.  In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by his two sons, Keith and his wife Barbara and Michael and his wife Karen; grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife Jennifer, Zachary, Devin, Kiley, Sadie, and Hannah Belle and great-grandson, Theodore.

John will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to charity in John's honor.
