IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph
Homan
November 30, 1992 – June 4, 2017
Joseph Wayne David II Insuk Homan went home to Heaven on June 4 th , 2017. His days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Joseph touched throughout his short, yet very memorable life.
Joseph's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His smile lit up the room around him and was contagious.
Joseph possessed incredible strength, discipline, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and challenges. Every day was an act of courage for Joseph to fight through mental illness. He never let the burden of his illness get him down or depress him or stop him from living an amazing life. With his courage, he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories even when going through hardship.
Joseph studied graphic design at Northern Virginia Community College at the Loudoun campus. He was enthusiastic about fitness, sleeping late, and working on cars. Joe was very passionate about music, he was the in-house DJ for the youth group, "AM." He loved movies and gaming with his family and hanging with his brother, Nick.
Joseph worked in the family catering business, was a Jack-of-all trades to his sister and her business, and was an entrepreneur at heart starting multiple mini-businesses. He had a knack for being resourceful and ingenious, he always had a plan. He was also involved at his church, running A/V for Kids Inc. at a young age, and anywhere else he was needed through the years.
Joseph had a kind heart and a gentle spirit and was always willing to lend a hand to help or a shoulder to lean on. He shared joy and humor with everyone around him and was always ready with a quick joke or harassment for his siblings with his sharp wit. He was a hero and a best friend to his nieces and nephew.
With Joseph's passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated, he would want us to party on. We will forever be inspired by his courage to face adversity every day and prevail. He posted a quote, "…It takes true courage to live every day," and he exemplified that. Although we will miss him every day, especially his winning smile, he will forever remain in our hearts.
Joseph is survived by his loving parents, John and Leanne Homan; sister Natallia Francis and husband Anthony and their children Aleyna, Gavin and Genevieve; brother Nicholas Homan; sister Arielle Homan; Aunt Gennia Jennings, Uncle Mark Jennings, and cousin Esther Jennings; Grandfather Don Homan; Uncles Junior Homan, Jimmy Homan, and Billy Homan and their wives and children; and Uncle Soo Bong, Uncle Soo Min, and Aunt Jeong Wook and Uncle Kyung Ho and Cousins Danbi and Dana; and many, many friends too many to name.
