Joseph Owen Moore passed away on September 23, 2012 at 82 years old. Mr. Moore resided at Sunrise at Countryside in Sterling, VA. Born in Washington, D.C. he was the son of John F. Moore and Alice Herl Moore.

Mr. Moore honorably served his country in the Marines, earning the rank of SSgt. While serving he earned, among others, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Ribbon and the Korean Pres. Unit citation.

Mr. Moore is survived by his loving wife Verna Moore; his daughter Barbara Hendrickson and son-in-law, John; grandchildren Troy Hendrickson and wife Christy, Michelle Weber and husband Todd, Marc Hendrickson and Brian Hendrickson; Great-grand children Jackson and Mackenna Weber and Audrey, Regan and Tess Hendrickson.

Family and friends are invited to the Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, Virginia on Thursday, October 4, 2012 during the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 5, 2012. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA.
