World War II Veteran

Joseph "Joe" Statnick, 96, of Sterling, VA, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Thursday, March 10, 2022.  Joe was born on August 13, 1925, in Centermoreland, PA.  He was the the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy Statnick.  He served in the 5th Army Air Force during World War II.  Upon his return he attended the Capital Radio Engineering Institute via the GI Bill.  He then worked for the Naval Research Lab in Washington D.C. for 57 years before retiring in 2007.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Betty Statnick, in May of 2017.  He is survived by his children, Brad Statnick (Kitty) of Dillsburg, PA, Carla Knight (Jaimie) of Charles Town, WV, and Ted Statnick (Jeannie) of Fredericksburg, VA; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 siblings; and many other extended family members.

Joe was a country boy at heart.  He loved tractors, walks on a dirt road, long car rides, eating molasses cookies and vanilla ice cream, singing hymns, and watching The Andy Griffith Show .  Joe was a kind and compassionate husband, father, brother, and "Gampers."

Joe trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 13 and had a personal faith in Christ and His shed blood on the cross for salvation.  He is now at peace in the presence of our Lord Jesus and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him in this life.

The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at Meadow Glen Assisted Living for their care of Joe the last few months of his life.

A private family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
