IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josephine
Derryberry
June 19, 1936 – December 3, 2021
Josephine Derryberry, 85, passed away suddenly on December 3, 2021. This unexpected loss has left family and friends shocked and deeply saddened. She will be terribly missed in so many ways.
Born in Hawaii, on June 19, 1936, to Clara and Estaban Costales, Jo was one of nine children. She married Norman Derryberry on June 4, 1960, and together they raised five children traveling the globe, settling temporarily wherever the Air Force had them stationed. Josephine proudly served over 30 years as a Civil Service employee for the Department of Defense. She and Norm were married 55 years until Norm's death in December 2015.
Jo is survived by her five children, Bobby (Marcia), Cindi (Mike), Jeannie (Steve), Terri (John), and Donna (Danny); her grandchildren, Andy, Christina, Jessica, AJ, Jimmy, Johnny, Tyler, Tanner and Emily; her great grandchildren, Blake, Ronin, Nicole, and Isaac. She is also survived by five of her siblings John (Dee), Rudy (Rosie), Fe, Esther, Roy, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Jo is preceded in death by her sisters Sally, Dominga, and Connie.
She very much enjoyed family gatherings and expressed her love through cooking, baking, (and shopping). Josephine always put her family first and she loved them beyond measure.
Josephine was precious, a true gift from God with so much beauty, grace, love, humor, and patience. Mom, you will forever be loved and missed.
Jo loved flowers, however, if donating to a charity is preferred, please consider contributing to St.John the Apostle Catholic Church, 101 Oakcrest Manor Drive, NE., Leesburg, VA 20176.
