Joyce Christine Rocks of Leesburg, Virginia passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2017.  She was born on June 14, 1927 in Meriden, Connectiucut to George and Sabina Sokel. and graduated from Wellesley College.  She is survived by her husband James K. Rocks, loving son Charles Rocks and loving Daughter Kristina Kibler, her brother Jere Sokel, and her grandchildren Carl E. Jones, III (wife Jennifer Jones), Charley and Christian Rocks (daughter-in-law Raquel Marigondon Rocks) along with her great granddaughter Madison Jones.  Joyce was an English teacher her entire career and spent 16 years in McLean, Virginia teaching English at Langley HIgh School.  Joyce's passion in her early years were bridge, skiing, tennis, and traveling the world with her husband by sailboat, train, plane or ship.  In her later years, Joyce became a Master Bridge Player, loved spending time with her cat(s), caring for her beautiful garden and doing crosswords along with reading her favorite mystery novels.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 29th at Colonial Funeral home ( www.colonialfuneralhome.com ) at 11 am.  At 12 pm we will have a rememberence for Joyce where friends and family can share memories.  A gathering after the service will follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to:  Capital Caring Hospice (capitalcaring.org), Death with Dignity ( www.deathwithdignity.org ) or Planned Parenthood (plannedparenthood.org).
