Judith Ann Lapple (Age 56) died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of August 10, 2010. She was the beloved wife of William Kaschak; daughter of Josephine Genovese; mother of Jenny, Megan, Alex and Jacquie Lapple; sister of David and Gene Genovese; aunt of Christopher Genovese; daughter-in-law of Rita Kaschak and, stepmother of Amanda, Caroline and Derek Kaschak. For the last 16 years, Judy was Professor of Flute at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA and maintained a large studio of private woodwind students. She was twice nominated for 'Who's Who Among America's College Teachers' and also recognized for her untiring work in preparing the young musicians of America by the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras. In recent years, she founded/directed the Summer Woodwind Camp and Flutopia Wind Ensemble. Judy was also the former principal flutist for the Air Force Band. To her family and community, she has always had a passion for music. Judy challenged herself and others to achieve at the highest level. She was that rare human being that impacts everyone within her environment. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road Northeast, Leesburg, VA 20176-2305. A Mass will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 10:00am, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 37730 St. Francis Ct., Purcellville, Virginia.
