Obituary

Julie Ann Hertel

On August 31, 2021 our beloved Julie passed into the heavenly world surrounded by her
amazing family. Julie was a wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister and friend to many.
Julie Ann Hertel (nee Clement) was born on March 13, 1967 in Buffalo, New York to Bernard
Clement and Nancy Biltekoff. Julie attended Bowling Green State University, completing her
degree at Buffalo State College with a BS in Education. She continued her studies completing a
Masters in Elementary and Special Education. She started her career teaching Special
Education in Olean, New York. Her ultimate goal was to be a mother.

It was during high school that she met the love of her life, Jerry. They have spent the past 36
years together, while raising four incredible daughters. Family was extremely important to Julie,
and she always prioritized her children. Between family movie nights, game nights, or as
simple as family dinner. She spent countless hours supporting her girls in dance, gymnastics
and cheer.

Julie had a passion for life which she shared with her family and close friends. She loved
running; she loved Orange Theory; she loved tennis; she loved bingo, cards, and basically any
activity that brought together a group of people. She especially enjoyed conversing about life
over a glass of wine, and she was known for giving loving and honest advice. And Julie loved all
things Mickey Mouse.

As the girls grew, Julie's boundless energy led her to a career in real estate. She established
herself as a top real estate agent in Leesburg, VA and she enjoyed making new friends just as
much as helping others find their dream home.
Julie was driven in every facet of life, and this fighting attitude was mirrored in her battle with
Glioblastoma these last 20 months. She was a warrior all the way through and fought to live
every day to the fullest.

Julie's love of life and people will live on in her legacy - her four adoring daughters. She will be
missed by many family members and numerous friends and she will live on in our hearts.
Julie is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Hertel; devoted daughters Mackenzie, Madison,
Bryn, and Lauren; mother Nancy Biltekoff; brothers Michael (Allison) Clement and Mark (Luisa)
Clement; sister Lisa (Brett) Studner; brother-in-law James (Alicia) Hertel; sisters-in-law Debora
Zack and Susan (Steven) Pisano and many loving and adoring nieces and nephews. Julie is
preceded in death by her adored father, Bernard Clement; mother-in-law Mary Ann Hertel;
father-in-law Donald Hertel and brother-in-law Jeffrey Hertel. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, friends and family who have all surrounded Julie for this last journey.
