Julius Frank Koetsch of Ashby Ponds, Ashburn, VA, born October 7, 1920 in Brookly, NY passed away November 12, 2010 at the age of 90. Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years, Jane Dornedden Koetsch; daughter, Katherine Streko and husband John, Mine Hill, NJ; daughter Margaret Koetsch, Reston VA; son, William Koetsch, Wellsburg, WV; grandson Jason J. Streko, West Hartford, Conn.; granddaughter, Melanie Beland and husband Dan, Salmon, Idaho and great-grandson Jason D. Streko, West Hartford, Conn.
A Lt. Colonel in the USMC from 1942-1962, he was a fighter pilot of VMF 222 in the South Pacific during WWII. Retiring from the service and a second career as an aeronautical engineer, he lived in Springfield, VA for 37 years where he pursued his love of Bonsai, becoming editor-in-chief of the Northern Virginia Potomac Bonsai Society for many years.
He will be buried with full military honors at Fort Myers Chapel in Arlington National Cemetery on February 7, 2011 starting at 1:00 p.m.
