IN LOVING MEMORY OF
June Ann
Young
June 3, 1940 – July 15, 2023
June Ann Young passed away peacefully after a long illness on July 15th, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She was 83 years old.
Born June 3rd, 1940, to Guy and Verna Fall of Fulton County, Indiana, June had fond memories of her childhood in Indiana. These memories included her mom's cooking, her dad's work ethic, the mischief that she and her siblings always managed to find on the farm, and her favorite cat, Charley. It was in Grass Creek that she met and married William L. Young, whose parents owned the general store across the street from her house.
With the birth of her twin boys, Todd and Jeff, in 1964, she chose to stay at home to be the central figure in the lives of her children. They welcomed a daughter, Stacey, in 1969.
June inherited her temperament – a combination of independence and determination – from her hard-working parents. Despite not having a college degree and taking a break from the workforce to focus on her children, June was able to obtain a job as a teller at Farmers & Merchants National Bank in Lovettsville, VA, after her children grew up. Even after her divorce in 1985, her intelligence, dedication, and strong work ethic allowed her to ascend to the position of Assistant Vice President at the bank, all while raising her children through the completion of their degrees at Virginia Tech. In her later career, she joined the CIA as a data analyst, retiring from this position in 2011.
In 2011, June was blessed to enter the Catholic Church along with her daughter, Stacey, granddaughter, Lindsey, and son-in-law Patrick. June had long searched for a spiritual home and found it at St. John The Apostle in Leesburg, VA. She worked hard to never miss a Sunday, always sitting with her family in the third pew on the left. June also loved deepening her faith and community by attending many bible classes taught at the parish.
A lifelong handcrafter, June made countless crocheted items, often gifting them to friends and family. Upon her retirement, however, she taught herself how to quilt and loved passing on her magnificent creations to her family. June loved combining colors and patterns into beautiful gifts for her very favorite people (yes: most of them went to her grandchildren!).
Retirement also allowed her the opportunity to volunteer with Birthright of Loudoun, a cause she came to love. Her favorite activity, other than chatting with the other volunteers, was to make up layettes for expectant mothers.
June is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James Fall of Marion, IN and Russell Fall of Zephyr Hills, FL, and sisters Rose Fall of Fulton County, IN and Carol Hewitt of Logansport, IN.
June is survived by her three children: Todd (Patricia) of Ashburn, VA, Jeff (Angie) of Centreville, VA, and daughter Stacey Laubacher (Patrick) of Leesburg, VA, as well as five beloved grandchildren: Lindsey, Ryan, Sammy, Matthew, and Brandon.
