Obituary

Karen Diane Bauer born on October 7th, 1950 to Betty Ziegler and Richard Bauer was reunited with the Lord on July 19th, 2013. Karen grew up in western Nebraska but was a city girl at heart. After marrying Michael Radzymski they ventured to Northern Virginia where they had one daughter, Nicole. After several years in Virginia, employment gave Karen the opportunity to live in Chicago and Cleveland. In Chicago, Karen earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Elmhurst College. Family brought her back to Northern Virginia where she resided in Centreville, VA. Karen went on to fulfill her proudest accomplishment by earning her Project Management Professional Certification. Throughout the years Karen enjoyed traveling abroad and learning many different cultures which she enjoyed sharing with her grandchildren, Brandon and Casey. Karen took great pride in creating beautiful flower gardens and finding pleasure in all aspects of nature. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her friends and family especially making blueberry pancakes with her grandchildren. She will be greeted in Heaven by her father, Richard Bauer, brother Ronnie Bauer, her grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Karen's motto was to live a balanced life and have an open mind to different experiences. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live in all those she touched. She is survived by her daughter Nicole (Mike) Tessitore of Centreville, VA; Grandson Brandon Tessitore of Front Royal, VA; Granddaughter Casey Tessitore of Centreville, VA; Great Grandson Braden Tessitore of Front Royal, VA; mother Betty Ziegler of Gering, NE; brother Rollie Bauer of Bayard, NE; niece Jill (Chris) Fye of Bellevue, NE, nephew Mason (Tandy) Bauer of Minature, NE; neice Shelley Bauer of Boston, MA; several aunts and uncles and many, many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105. A celebration of Karen's life will be held at 3 PM on Monday, July 29th, at the Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg.
