VALLE – Karen Theresa of Ashburn, VA formerly of Annapolis, MD and Levittown, NY passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 11, after a courageous battle with cancer - her loving husband, Dr. Emil Valle at her side.

Born and raised in NY, Karen grew up in Levittown and was the daughter of John and Janet McLaughlin, of Parkland, FL.  Karen spent her entire professional career as a registered nurse dedicated to providing kindness and compassion to all those who were fortunate to have been under her care.  Karen thrived on spending time with her husband of 22 years and her two wonderful children; Joseph, a second-year at the University of Virginia and Kayla, a freshman at Virginia Tech.  Karen was extremely proud of their academic accomplishments and future scholastic and career-oriented goals.  Encouraged by Karen, the family was an inseparable team.   Whether in travel, at the theater, dining or cheering Joe's cross-country and track meets or Kayla's soccer games; they were there together as a single family unit.

She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, children and parents, Karen is survived by her sister Kathy and husband Alex Behr of Clarks Summit, PA; brothers Joseph and wife Leanne of Las Vegas, NV; Kenneth and wife Kelly of Coral Springs, FL; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday September 17th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA 20176; during which time Rosary will be said at 4:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday September 18th at 11:00 am at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 21370 St. Theresa Lane, Ashburn, VA 20147.  Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
