Kathryne Kuhn Krouse

died of lung cancer Sunday morning, September 29, 2013, at her home at Leisure World, Leesburg, VA surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 24, 1930 in Morgantown, WV, the eleventh of twelve children born to the late Matthias and Margaret Ganz Kuhn.

Miss Kitty graduated from Morgantown High School, class of 1947. She wed Thomas E. Krouse, a classmate, on June 22, 1957. Surviving are Thomas; two daughters: Kimberley Shelton (Gene) of Martinsburg, WV; and Laurie Martin (Gavin) of Ashburn, VA. She was deeply devoted to her family especially her two grandchildren Madeline and Graham Martin whom she adored and cherished. Surviving also are a sister, Anne K. Smith of Morgantown, and a brother, Joseph Kuhn (Lisa) of Fredericksburg, VA., one sister-in-law Betty Kuhn of Morgantown, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Miss Kitty was a very caring and compassionate person who helped many others in need in countless ways along her journey. All loved and respected her and enjoyed her sense of humor.

Before marriage Miss Kitty worked at Monongahela Power Co. in WV. Later she worked for the Civil Aeronautics Board, C&O Railroad, and The Metropolitan Restaurant Management Company. A Secretary/Stenographer forever, she won honors and awards in every position she occupied.

A service is scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2013 starting at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. The family will receive friends one half hour before the service.

After cremation, her ashes will be buried at a later date at the National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia.
