Katherine (Kit) Narcissus (Brooks) Rensberger
Age 99, of Burnsville, MN (formerly of McLean, VA) and born in Chardon, NE, passed away peacefully with her daughter Karen at her side on October 28, 2018.
Kit was a career woman before her time, graduating from Nebraska State Teacher's College with a B.S. degree in Teaching Commerce, English and History at age 21. She began her career in Washington, D.C. as a freight specialist for the U.S. General Accounting Office and transferred to Alaska as secretary to the Director of Supply and Maintenance at Ladd Field. She returned to Washington, D.C. in 1950 as a federal auditor where she met her beloved husband, Marion. Kit retired upon the birth of their first child in 1954. While raising her children and caring for her family, Kit was an active volunteer in her community, church, and children's activities. At age 61, she returned to the work force with the Fairfax County school system where she was employed for 15 years.
Kit enjoyed entertaining, cooking, gardening, long walks outdoors, and her many pets. She loved her family and often opened her home to those in need. She was a devote Catholic.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. Brooks, Sr. and Frances Mary (Schaefer) Brooks; husband, Marion Charles Rensberger (1979); brothers, Charles L. Brooks, Jr. and Francis A. Brooks.
Her survivors include sons, Kenton Charles Rensberger (Holly) of Roy, WA and Stephen L. Rensberger of McLean, VA; daughters, Karen M. Schul (Christopher) of Apple Valley, MN and Linda Blue Stickley (Michael) of Charles Town, WV; grandchildren, Kenton Samuel Rensberger, Jessica L. Schul and Matthew N. Schul; great granddaughter, Adalynn.
A mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 21371 St. Theresa Lane, Ashburn, VA 20147, on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., interment immediately following at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
