Kathryn Winter Harper Polen, 52, of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on June 27, 2020 after a long illness.  Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Sandy Harper, and her husband Allen Polen.  She is survived by her sons Adam Polen and Caleb Polen, her sister Amy Harper, and her aunts and cousins.

Kathy graduated from Loudoun County High School in 1985, where she was active in the school choir and school newspaper.  Kathy joined the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad as a teenager, becoming in EMT and later, a Cardiac Technician.  She served her community for over fifteen years, earning Life Member status in the LCVRS.

Kathy had a love of music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing with her beautiful voice.  She loved animals and would always help one in need.  Kathy was a loving mother and daughter, becoming a caretaker for her father as he suffered from the effects of Parkinson's disease.  She was an excellent and innovative cook, loved gardening and drawing.

The family will celebrate Kathy's life with a gathering of family and friends  on July 7, 2020 at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd., NE, Leesburg, VA  20176 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
