Kelly Ann Nutwell died peacefully in her sleep on June 29 th 2021 after a long illness. She is mourned by her husband of 30 years Richard Nutwell of Ashburn. her son Nicholas Nutwell of Austin Texas, her daughter Julia Nutwell of Richmond Virginia, her Sister Donna Jorgenson and husband Fred, of Venice Florida, her brother Patrick Worrall of Toms River, New Jersey and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.
She was born on January 28 1960 Kelly Ann Worrall in Toms River, New Jersey to mother Helen Worrall and Father Donald Worrall both deceased.
Kelly graduated from the University of Massachusetts in June 1982 and was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency. For a significant portion of her exceptional career she worked for what is now called the Open Source Center. This involved posting in exotic locations including Okinawa, and the United Kingdom (where she met her future husband Richard on a bus tour of Brussels and Bruges) She also was posted in Panama and Thailand, where she was accompanied by husband Richard and son Nicholas and where they had the joy of adopting theur daughter Julia from Cambodia.
Returning stateside Kelly continued her progression in the agency. She served as Deputy Director of the Europe, Latin America, Africa Group where she attained the rank of Senior Intelligence Service. Her final assignment was spent in the Inspector Generals Office as Deputy Inspector General for Inspection. Kelly earned numerous awards and accolades during her career, most notable the Career Intelligence Medal.
Kelly was a devoted wife and mother, The family took many memorable vacations. She attended more swim meets, soccer games and track meets than one can count She chaired Project Graduation for graduating seniors at Broad Run High schools for a record five consecutive years,
A Celebration of Life will be held in Kelly's honor at St. David's Episcopal Church, 4600 Russell Branch Road, Ashburn Virginia 20147 on July 23 2021 at 200pm. Light refreshments will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations could be made to the Alzheimer Association
