Kevin Jude Caulfield, 55, of Leesburg, VA died peacefully on December 28, 2015. He was surrounded by his beloved family, friends and colleagues. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church, Ashburn, VA on January 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. followed immediately by a reception in the adjacent Parish Hall. Kevin's favorite pastime was to include friends and food in bringing people together. His family hopes that you can join them.
Kevin was born in Weymouth, MA. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute, in 1983, with a degree in Economics. Although he had many opportunities in the business world, he knew his passion was caring for others. He went back to school and obtained a Nursing degree at George Mason University and worked in numerous local hospitals, most recently as an ER nurse at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. He truly enjoyed his colleagues and showed compassion and care to all his patients.
Kevin touched the lives of so many people throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed and cherished being the husband of Angela and devoted father of Gabriella, Kevin Jr. and Sophia. Kevin was preceded in death by his beloved father, Bill, in early December. He is survived by his mother, Sheila; sisters, Andrea, Maura, Sheila and Erin; brother, Bill, and many nieces and nephews. Kevin treasured his VMI Class of '83 Brother Rats — Jack, Ray, John, Will, Ed, and Steve. Earlier in his life, Kevin earned the rank of Eagle Scout with his lifelong friend, Paul. Other close friends included Mark, a friend for over 25 years since working at the Patent Office. Additionally, he appreciated the support of family friends, Dave and Robin, for their heartfelt support to his family.
Kevin was full of life and always a child at heart. He was a caring and loving person who could always put a smile on peoples' faces. He had the opportunity to travel abroad with his family to Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain, England, Africa, Netherlands, Austria, France, Poland, Holland and Peru. He loved being with his kids in the States, too, whether by going swimming, watching them playing their sports, or watching his favorite sport teams together—the Washington Redskins, New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He loved to read and watch action movies. Most of all, Kevin loved everything with everything he had.
Kevin's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at INOVA Fairfax Hospital and Capital Caring Adler Hospice in Aldie, VA for the support and care during this difficult time. You did a wonderful job in supporting one of your own. A special, special thanks is owed to Kevin's friends and colleagues at Holy Cross Hospital. The visits, calls and, most of all, the many shared stories comforted the many people Kevin touched in his lifetime.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up three educational fund accounts with TD Bank, in the names of the children; Gabriella, Kevin, Jr., and Sophia. A registry book with donation envelopes for contributions will be available at the Funeral Mass/Reception, if preferred.
As per the wishes of the family, there will be no viewing prior to the service.
