Landon Osburn Wynkoop, 86, of Leesburg, died October 19, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Countryside. Born on April 3, 1923 in Round Hill, Virginia, he was the only child of Landon Hammerly Wynkoop and Rosa Elizabeth (Turner) Wynkoop. Mr. Wynkoop was a graduate of Round Hill High School and The College of William and Mary. He retired from the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. and continued to work as a docent at Oatlands, Loudoun Museum and Morven Park until age 82. He was an avid historian and was honored by the Thomas Balch Library for his achievements. He loved local history, flower gardening, his home on Woodberry Road and most of all, his Springer Spaniel, Walker. A memorial service will be held December 5,2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Church of Our Savior Oatlands. The Reverend Elijah White will be officiating. Robert Thompson will be the organist.
