IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laverne Loretta
Forseth
October 10, 1922 – September 23, 2017
LaVerne Loretta Weismann Forseth, better know as "Granny", went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2017, just 17 days shy of her 95 th birthday. She was born on October 10, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Alma (Marcoux) Weismann. LaVerne was the 9 th of 10 children and is survived by her baby brother, Bill Weismann, Sr., who is 91 years young and still lives in the Chicago area. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Lt. Col. Vernon E. Forseth (USAF, Ret.). She was also preceded in death by her siblings Mildred, Florence, Albert, Lillian, Leslie, Loretta, Harold, and Robert.
She is survived by her four children: Skip Forseth (and his partner, Kathy Outman); Larry Forseth (and his wife, Mary); Debra Schuetz (and her husband, Scott); Mark Forseth (and his wife, Vicki). She adored her four grandchildren: Matthew Forseth (and his wife, Joanna); Joseph Forseth (and his wife Jen); Ryan Forseth (and his wife, Lindsay) and Tara Forseth; as well as her 3 great-grandchildren: Brett Forseth, Ethan Forseth and Jessica Forseth.
She was a devoted Air Force wife during Vern's long career. She loved having the opportunity to live in different and interesting places, such as California, Texas, France and Panama. While in France she was very proud to have been president of the Officers' Wives' Club and continued to attend reunions of the 38 th Bomb Wing from Laon, France, until she was physically no longer able. They eventually settled in Springfield, Virginia and in their golden years, split their time between their homes in Punta Gorda, Florida and Ocean Pines, Maryland. LaVerne had a unique talent for quickly making friends anywhere she went and many of those friendships from around the world lasted a lifetime. She cherished the many years of retirement she was able to share with Vern when they were able to travel extensively, vacationing and visiting family & friends, as well as enjoy numerous cruises.
During the final years of Vern's military career, LaVerne enjoyed her own career path, which included being a telephone solicitor in Ocean Pines real estate sales, where she was quickly promoted to manager of the phone room. The stories she shared during this time were an endless source of entertainment. This position led to Vern's second career in real estate and the purchase of their beloved home in Ocean Pines. She finished her career as the office manager for Ametek's Crystal City, Virginia office.
LaVerne loved life, music, singing, playing the piano and talking to anyone who would listen. She especially loved dancing with her husband to 1940s big band music. She was a talented seamstress and crafter, and whether it was knitting, embroidery, needlepoint, crochet, ceramics or decoupage, her beautiful creations will always have a special place in our homes and our hearts.
LaVerne held incredibly strong Christian beliefs that she instilled in all of her children, and had an unshakeable faith that, if you put your trust in God, things will always work out for the best. She stressed many times recently how important it is to truly enjoy life, because at 94 years old, she still felt she hadn't had enough time to do what she wanted to do and that life was too short. Most of all, LaVerne LOVED her family. She said many times that she was not afraid to leave this life, but she did not want to go because she was going to miss being with her family. As she always said, "There's nothing like family!"
She was deeply loved and will be missed more than she knows…..
