Beloved husband, brother and friend, Lawrence D. Townsend, best known as "Hoppy" passed away on Saturday April 18, 2009 while staying at the Cameron Glen Care Center. A painter by trade, Mr. Townsend was the owner of A & J Painting in Leesburg, Virginia.

Lawrence Townsend, 50, was born in Virginia to the late William G. Townsend and Radie (Riffle) Townsend on August 4, 1958.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife Debra Townsend and children Ashley M. Townsend and Justine N. Townsend. Also surviving are his brothers Leonard D. (Lisa) Townsend, David (Martha) Townsend, Stephen D. (Lula) Townsend, Donald P. (Betty) Townsend, Robert "Frankie" Townsend and Patrick H. (Donna) Townsend along with his sisters Susie (Bill) Akers, Juanita Grubles, Geraldine (Paul) Austin, Barbara (Philip) Harris and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Sterling Cemetery.
