Leslie Hector Monteiro was born on November 3rd, 1959 to John Monteiro and Julia Monis. His childhood education was completed in Mangalore, India. He got his start in Aeronautics during his Aircraft maintenance schooling in Madras, India. He moved to the United States and in 1981 he graduated from the Parks College in St. Louis, Missouri with a degree in Aeronautics Engineering. He worked as a chief Avionics Engineer and Safety inspector for the FAA. On September 1st 1991, he married Shirly Saldanha, the love of his life. On September 28 ^th , 1995 he welcomed his firstborn son, Luke into this world. On March 30th 1997 his precious daughter, Leah completed his family.

Leslie was an Aviation Safety Inspector who worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. He passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on January 16 ^th 2017 at the age of 57.

He is survived by his mother, Julia Monteiro; his wife, Shirly Monteiro; his children, Luke & Leah Monteiro; his siblings, Ashok Monteiro and Dinna Fernandes. He is predeceased by his father, John Monteiro.

Leslie, fondly known as Les, was a devoted father, husband, son, and brother. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, politics, and his job in aviation.  He was a regular at a number of golf courses and columbines with his golfing buddies, and his son, Luke. One of his passions was to make his own culinary masterpieces for both himself and his family. He was a brilliant man who was known for working hard and giving advice on everything from finances to life choices. He was a confidant and counselor that many of us can attest to. His love for politics was unrivaled, every political satire he knew of, every policy he memorized. Les loved knowing about the inner workings of the government and debated about them with everyone. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and coworkers alike.

Family will receive friends between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22 ^nd , 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176. The funeral service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Monday January 23 ^rd , 2017 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Ashburn, VA. Burial to follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Leesburg, Virginia. Pastor Richard Guest will officiate the ceremony.
