Lesta Gibson was born on February 5, 1940 in Pikeville, Kentucky. She passed on December 11, 2011 in her home due to a very aggressive cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.

She is survived by her husband Dallas D. Gibson, daughter Tonja Cross, son Dallas Gibson Jr., four grandchildren Ben Cross, Lance Cross, Logan Gibson, Lindsay Gibson, two sisters Lois Southard who lives in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Jo Anne Coleman who lives in Richmond, Kentucky.

Lesta graduated early from Pikeville High School and went on to study business at Southwestern Kentucky State University. She worked in Clearwater, Florida where she met and married Dallas. They moved to Stoneybrook, New York and also enjoyed living in Nashua, New Hampshire. The family resided for 25 years in Springfield, Virginia. Lesta retired from the Navy Department as an executive assistant in 2003. Upon retirement she and Dallas moved to Leesburg, Virginia to live near her children and enjoy her beloved grandchildren.

A time of visitation has been set for Thursday, December 15, 2011 between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. at the Harmony United Methodist Church, 380 East Colonial Highway, Hamilton, Virginia 20158. A service will follow the visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. at the church. The Reverend Steve Vineyard will be officiating.
