Beloved brother, father & grandfather Lester W. Easterday, age 82 of Front Royal, VA passed away in the early morning hours of February 5, 2021 with his family by his side.
Lester was born in Bessemer, WVA on June 26, 1938 to the late Lester & Elva Easterday.
When Lester was 11 years old the family moved from West Virginia to Round Hill, VA. West VA never left Lester's heart. He always talked about his times growing up in West VA & also telling stories about his youth working on the Thompson Farm baling hay as a young boy in Virginia.
At the age of 18 Lester joined the United States Army and served his country. He was a Field Medic while in the United States Army. That is where he fell in love with the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee.
In 1959 Lester met the love of his life Carolyn. They married on August 3, 1962. They had two daughter's Kim & Leslie.
Lester drove a truck for numerous years for Arlington Wood Working, Smoot Lumber and he retired from T.W. Perry & Weis Supermarket.
Lester in his younger years was on numerous bowling leagues at the Leesburg Bowling Alley and also played on several softball teams in Western & Eastern Loudoun.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carolyn whom he was married to for 46 years at the time of her death, his parents Lester & Elva Easterday & and an infant sister Betty and other beloved family members who passed before him.
He is survived by his daughters Kim McGaha (Blaine) Round Hill, VA & Leslie Kershner (Derrick) Front Royal, VA, grandchildren David Cline (Cat) Edinburg, VA & Megan Kershner , Front Royal VA, sisters Ruby Bell (David), Woodstock, VA & Shirley Hoyt , Manassas, VA, several grand fur babies and numerous family members.
Lester will be remembered by his loved ones and friends for his incredible sense of humor & storytelling, his love of his family especially his grandchildren David & Megan. When he talked of them his face would light up. He loved going to the Outer banks NC on yearly vacations with his family. He collected older models of automobiles and Hess trucks. He always said if he won the Lottery, he would buy an older vehicle.
Visitation is February 15 th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and funeral service will begin at 1pm. Interment will be at the Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro, VA
Due to COVID restrictions the family is planning a celebration of life for Lester at a later date.
