Lillian (Pat) Jones was Born in Franklin, New Hampshire on December 9, 1933, and died May 8, 2022 in Ashburn, Virginia at 88 years old. She married Carlton Jones in 1968, he passed away in 2011, and raised three step-sons, Robert (deceased), Thomas, and Jeffrey. She had a career as a nurse and eventually became head nurse for Northern Virginia Doctors Hospital in Arlington, VA. In 1978 she retired to a horse farm in Fort Valley, Virginia along with her husband, Carl. They moved to Edinburg, Virginia in 1999 on Manor Drive. For the last three years of her life she moved to Ashburn, Virginia to spend time closer to family. She is survived by her two step-sons, three grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, and Christopher, three great-grandchildren, Stella, Pierce and Adelina, two special nieces, PJ Jones Soto and Sharon Montgomery and her very close friend, Norma Grimes. She also would want the family to remember her very good friends from "The Fort," "Edinburg Manor" and "Regency at Ashburn."
Pat remained a stern New Englander even after living in Virginia for all of her adult life. She definitely knew what she wanted, what she didn't want, and she let people know. However, she was quick to laugh about the ironies of life, sometimes to the point of tears. Service to others was central to her life and she was always available when someone needed help. She maintained her nursing certification long after retirement so she could assist family, friends, and neighbors in need. In her eighties she traveled to Rome in 2013 and Paris in 2015. She was most proud telling doctors and nurse practitioners that she traveled to Barbados, which was her last trip outside the country in 2020.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11th, at Panorama Memorial Gardens, 4917 Strasburg Rd, Strasburg, VA 22657. Family and friends are invited.
Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to her favorite charity, Guiding Eyes For The Blind.
