Lori Evans, 64, passed away on February 23, 2026. Lori was the daughter of Donald and Bette Spagnola, proud Italians who raised Lori and her siblings Robert and Lynne in Beaver Falls, PA, or as Lori refers to it, “God’s Country.” Lori was the youngest, which forged her determination and independence to excel and live life to its’ fullest. Lori was quick witted and extremely funny, two traits that stemmed from an exceedingly high level of intelligence.

After graduating from Edinboro University in 1984 with a degree in Business, Lori followed her sister to Northern Virginia, where she began to work for various companies as an accountant. In 1987, she found her way to Freddie Mac in McLean, VA, where she worked for 35 years. Lori held a number of key positions there, including: Senior Financial Analyst, Regulatory Reporting Senior, Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance Senior, and Manager, Enterprise Data Governance. Lori was beloved by her co-workers.

In 1985, she met Gary Evans, who, after an interminably long dating period, married Lori in 1989, in Alexandria, VA. Not long after, a son – Taylor – arrived, and one year after moving to Ashburn, VA in 1996, a second son – Spencer – rounded out the Evans household. Lori was blessed with three nieces as well: Emily, Alexis and Anna Power. Lori is also survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Power.

Lori excelled as a mom, volunteering for PTO, team mom, CCD and church volunteer, community projects, and more. Her good nature and loving disposition grew a large network of friends, both personal and professional. Her friendships date back to her elementary school years and were a very important part of her life.

Lori derived great pleasure from watching her two sons grow into great young men. As a true Italian mother, much of their success could be directly attributed to a firm hand and some timely mom meddling. Lori and Gary were thrilled to welcome a daughter-in-law – Valerie- to the family in 2025. She was over the moon having another female in the fold to help balance all the boys.

Lori was a robust sports fan, rooting for many teams, if they came from Pittsburgh. Her passion was football (both sons played collegiately) and there was no doubt who the loudest fan was among the bleachers! Lori was a longstanding member of a football pick ‘em pool and routinely placed above many of the men in the group, much to their consternation and her delight. The only sport Lori was more passionate about than football was shopping, and she was a pro’s pro. Besides her family, nothing excited her more than getting a great deal!

Traveling to visit family and friends, and traveling with family and friends, was a great passion of Lori’s. Whether it was various cities in Pennsylvania, New York, California, the Outer Banks, the Keys, Tuscany or other points on the compass, inevitably, new friends would be added to the ever-growing circles of friends.

Lori Evans was defined by her wit, intellect, love, beauty (internal and external), family, friends, sense of humor, charm, and big, big heart. She was a supernova, and if you were caught up in her gravitational pull, you were truly touched by God. She will be missed by many, and many will celebrate her love and friendship for years to come. Godspeed our Italian beauty.
