On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, Lorna Larson Melonson passed away. She was eighty years old. Lorna grew up on the family dairy farm in Maine, the oldest child of Arthur and Arlene Larson. She was a nurse for many years and worked at the Alexandria Hospital in northern Virginia. Lorna enjoyed a fulfilled retirement with her late husband, George, at their home in Florida, playing golf and hosting friends and relatives who came to visit, especially when the weather turned cold up north. Lorna also was an animal advocate and pet lover – her rescue cats Lily and Sandy were her constant and faithful companions at home and when traveling.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, her son Alan Avery and her loving husband, George Melonson. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Carrico (spouse Peter) and two grandchildren, Peter Austin Carrico (spouse Katelyn) and Cameron Carrico, as well as her siblings David Larson, Rita Larlee (spouse Eugene), and James Larson.
A memorial fund in Lorna's name has been set up with the V Foundation, a prominent cancer research organization:
