Obituary

Well known face of Safeway passes away. Louis T. Hough passed away on July 27, 2009 at Envoy Health & Rehabilitation and Nursing in Winchester, Virginia. At the time of his death, Mr. Hough was 88 years old. Born in Virginia on April 30, 1921, he was the son of Raymond and Louise (Legge) Hough. He attended Leesburg schools and graduated Leesburg High.

Mr. Hough loved sports. He played football, baseball, and basketball while attending the Leesburg High School. A true sports fan, he loved the game of baseball. He was a loyal fan of the Washington Senators and the Washington Redskins. When he could find no other way, he would hitchhike to Washington, D.C. to watch the ballgames. He was a veteran, having served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Hough was a hard worker; even described at times as a workaholic. While some knew him as family and others knew him as friend, many knew him as the face at Safeway. Mr. Hough was an employee of the Safeway Grocery Stores in Leesburg and Richmond for over 40 years. Most of those years were spent at the local Safeway in Leesburg as manager.

Those who are surviving to cherish his memories are his son, Michael D. and Fran Hough of Stephens City, VA, sisters Frances Barbina of FL and Anna Rollison of MI, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents Raymond and Louise (Legge) Hough, wife Lucille S. Hough and brother Roger Hough.

A service in his honor was held Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA. At the family's request, memorial donations can be sent to Blue Ridge Hospice 333 West Cork St., Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601 or Fellowship Bible Church, 3217 Middle Road, Winchester, VA 22602.
