Louisa Settle Skinner Hutchison passed away Monday, May 10, 2017. Louisa was 94 years old.
The daughter of Robert I. and Virginia H. Skinner, she was born on November 4, 1922 at "Diamond Hill" near Aldie, in Loudoun County, Virginia. Louisa attended her first through seventh grades of school at Little River Elementary. Her last four years were completed at Aldie High, graduating in 1938 as valedictorian of her class. From there Louisa went on to attend Strayer College; finishing a secretarial course in 1939 and graduating with her class in 1940.
After college Louisa accepted a position with Tri-County Electric (REA Cooperative), working from June, 1941 to September, 1947. Her next career change came in January, 1948 when she started working with the Loudoun County Government - first as a deputy in the Loudoun County Treasurer's Office until December, 1957 and later (in January, 1959) as a deputy in the Loudoun County Clerk's Office where she stayed until 1972.
Louisa attended the Little River Baptist Church in Aldie, Virginia where she was a long time member since 1933. During her many years of faithful service Louisa taught Sunday School and served as church treasurer. She had a special interest in local history and genealogy, enjoying the time spent over the years in research of local sources.
She was married to Thomas B. Hutchison (who predeceased her) on March 28, 1969.
Louisa will be dearly missed. But her memories will be cherished by the friends and loved ones she leaves behind.
Those included are her nephew Moffett Skinner, his wife Colleen and their children, Christopher and Kyle; along with her niece Tricia Fairfax and husband Stanley.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, Virginia.
