Louise Ann Conjura passed away on February 12, 2016 . Louise was 79 years old. She and her husband, John, made their home in Lansdowne, Virginia.
Originally from New York City, New York, she was born in 1936 to proud parents Louis Clement and Adele Marie (Sokoloski) Britton. At the age of 10, Louise and her family moved from New York City to Shamokin, Pennsylvania. In 1957 Louise married John Edward Conjura. As a new wife she found herself traveling extensively throughout the United States and Europe during her husband's Navy career, which expanded thirty years; living in both Iceland and Italy. Never one to sit idle, Louise found ways to stay busy. She was active in the Officers' Wives Club throughout her husband's Navy career. She enjoyed the family vacations traveling around Europe by VW bus. One of her favorite pastimes was shopping in "Thieves Alley" in Naples, Italy.
Louise gave of herself tirelessly as a volunteer at hospitals. She was very active as Vice Chairman on the Hospital Board of Directors for Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Maryland; Chairman of the Hospital Foundation Board, member of The Family Violence Coalition; the Area Agency on Aging; and the Garrett County Planning and Zoning Board. During her twenty year career as an RN at Loudoun Memorial Hospital, Louise attained a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from St. Josephs College in Standish, Maine.
After both she and her husband retired in 1992, they moved from Vienna, Virginia to Deep Creek Lake. Here she thoroughly enjoyed the family visits for winter skiing and summer water activities; including boating with her husband and family. Louise assisted her husband John, who was President of the Property Owners Association, with the financial management, secretarial functions and hosting guests.
Her family will miss the times they gathered for the Holiday Feasts she prepared. Those left to cherish the memories include her husband John; daughter Carol; son John; Grandsons Justin, Blake, Brett and Chase; Granddaughters Brittany and Cate; Great Grandson Jackson; her sister Dolores; brothers Larry and George; sister-in-law Theresa; and the many who were blessed to have known her.
