Lucille Reider peacefully departed this earth on Thursday evening, June 6, 2013. She was at home, surrounded by her loving family. As a teenager, she recognized Christ Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.
Lucille was born in 1925, in Yonkers, NY, daughter of Annie Kight Alford and Walter Hayes Alford. A graduate of Roosevelt High School (NY) and Macon Law School (GA), she was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1952.
In 1955, Lucille married Jacob A. Reider in Macon, GA, and later lived in Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio, and Virginia. She was a wife and mother first, not working outside the home until her children were older. Lucille loved people, and maintained friendships for life. Lucille began an unexpected career teaching college in mid-life, that spanned more than 20 years. She influenced students at the University of Cincinnati, Miami University, and Southern Ohio College, teaching business and real estate law. Her love and talent for teaching was evidenced by the overwhelming response by her students. She was known to start each class by writing a 'Food For Thought' verse on the blackboard.
Lucille is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Jacob A. Reider, daughters Rebecca Tatum of Tallahassee, FL, Mary (Peter) Van Ellis, of Pipersville, PA, and Julia (Tim) Phillips, Leesburg, VA, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
