IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lynn Martine
Lothian
May 16, 1957 – November 20, 2018
Lynn Martine Lothian, was born on May 16, 1957 in Battle Creek, Michigan to her parents John Robert Scamehorn II and Irma June (Hassinger) Scamehorn.
Lynn is survived by her loving children, Andrea Patience (Smith) Kelleher and her husband Thomas, James Andrew Smith, Jr., John Raymond Smith, Erin Leigh (Lothian) Augustyniak and her husband John, and Ryan Alexander Lothian; her loving siblings Sheryl Bowen, John Scamehorn, Jr. and Abby Mensinger and 15 grandchildren.
Lynn resided in multiple cities in several states over the years, but made Maryland her home for the majority of her life before she moved to Virginia in 2011. She worked as an administrative assistant to three vice presidents at Northrop Grumman for 25 years before leaving the workplace. She loved to read books (finishing them in mere days), turtles, old dead trees, historical buildings, along with the beauty of nature itself. She was most passionate about her family and educating and supporting people affected by Alpha 1 anti-trypsin deficiency.
She always thought of others first and herself last; this showed throughout her life as she overcame many obstacles and challenges while never giving up on her ultimate goal of giving to others. She was challenged with this disease that made life difficult to live but she did everything with a smile and positive attitude. One of her greatest accomplishments was when she was able to become an Alpha-1 Support Group Leader in Northern Virginia. She was able to provide hope and guidance to everyone around her, through educating them on the many ways to overcome this challenge. She never let her disease control who she was or what she did; she faced life head on and made it look easy, always with a smile. You were so very loved mom and you touched so many lives, you will never be forgotten. You left your mark and now you can look down and smile at all your achievements, you were amazing!
