Obituary

Lynne Damaty Simpson, 65, of Sterling, Virginia, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015, at The Adler Center for Caring in Aldie, VA.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, August 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, N.E. Leesburg, Virginia 20176.

Ms. Damaty was born on January 6, 1950, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Nicholas and Jean Damaty. She worked for Loudoun County Public Schools until her death. She was a devoted debate and forensics coach and a pillar of the Potomac Falls High School community in which she had worked since 2004. In her free time, she enjoyed being with family, traveling, and the theatre. As much as she meant to those who knew her professionally, she was also, quite simply put, the best mother and wife and a truly loving sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her father, Nicholas Damaty, Sr. and her brother, Nicholas Damaty, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, James Simpson; her daughter, Allyson Simpson; her mother, Jean Damaty; sisters Michele Cole (John) and Susie Ciraco; brothers Paul Shue (Linda) and Thom Mills (Mary); and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Adler Center for Caring for the exemplary care provided to Ms. Damaty. Every interaction was warm and compassionate.

In recognition of the tremendous time and effort Ms. Damaty selflessly gave to Potomac Falls High School as both a parent, staff member, and debate/forensics coach, the family and the school administrators have established a scholarship in her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the scholarship fund. Contributions may be made payble and sent to: Potomac Falls High School, 46400 State Route 1582, Sterling, Virginia 20165. Indicate the donation is for "The Coach's Scholarship."
Condolences may be made to the family at www.colonialfuneralhome.com.
