Obituary

Mae Jane Coughlin passed away on February 19, 2012. Originally from Lucketts, she was the youngest child born to William M. and Bessie (Ryan) Coughlin. Mae was a graduate of Leesburg High School. From childhood into her adult life she helped her family with the cooking and cleaning of their home as well as working outdoors on their farm. Mae attained great cooking skills and grew to love the outdoors. She grew to admire baseball, watching the games on TV with her brother. As an adult she continued to be a wonderful homemaker. Her cooking skills were favored by all. Mae donated her skills in the form of lemon and egg custard pies to the Lucketts Community Senior Center and the Lucketts Volunteer Fire Hall dinners. Many would show up early for dinners at the Fire Hall just to make sure they got a piece of Mae's pies. Although she was talented indoors, her great love was working in her flower garden, especially planting dahlias. Often she could be found pouring over flower catalogs deciding what to plant next. She kept in touch with her family and neighbors by telephone often. In her later years Mae moved to Woodland Retirement Home in Lovettsville, Virginia where she lived until her death.

Mae's memories will continue to live on in those she leaves behind: her nieces and their husbands Joyce and Pete Webb and Malinda T. and Robert Frye all from Lucketts, Virginia; her great nieces and a great nephew; and several great, great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Muriel C. Trittipoe; and her brothers Bruce R. Coughlin, Winfred E. Coughlin and Everett Coughlin.

Family and friends are invited to the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 on Thursday, February 23, 2012 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. A service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
