IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Magdalena Rosas
De Castillo
September 6, 1935 – February 11, 2021
Magdalena Rosas de Castillo was a mother, grandma, and great-grandma (called by us different special names, Chulis, Lita, and Maggie), passed away peacefully in Aldie, Virginia (USA) at the age of 85.
Born and raised in Mexico City. In 1990, Magdalena moved to California to live with her daughter and grandchildren. Later on, she moved to the east coast to help raise her great-grandchildren.
Lita was devoted to Araceli, her only daughter. She was a loving Grandmother to Alejandro (Alysondra), Robert (Natalie), and Veronica (Robert). An Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and a Great-Grandmother to Amelia, Arthur, Eleanor, Harrison, Liliana, Mateo, and Mila.
Throughout her life our abuelita enjoyed embroidering, cooking, making collages, working with beads to make neckless, but most of all helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
My Chulis enjoyed watching my brother and I play sports in California. Later in Virginia she loved to watch her great-grandchildren perform in the living room.
Maggie was a devote Catholic, who spent countless hours praying the Rosary and watching masses from Mexico sent to her by her niece, Maria del Refugio.
Our Lita was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman. We will miss her every day.
Special thanks to Dr. Josephson, who by correcting her eyesight at age 76, allowed her to see the world that she missed since childhood. Also, thanks to all the medical staff who helped care for her in her final year. Lastly, the rest of Lita's family are grateful to My mom, Araceli and my sister Veronica who provided invaluable care to Lita for many years.
A private family memorial will be held at Colonial Funeral Home. A webcast will be available for those unable to attend in person.
