Margaret was loved deeply by her family and friends, who surrounded Margaret with love and comfort over the past several years during her struggles with renal failure and more recently, cancer. Margaret peacefully passed away at her home in Lansdowne, Virginia, surrounded by family. She is survived by five children – Jacqueline Krikorian, Karen Loosararian, Christine Pollard, Sonya Kalian, and Krik Krikorian; twelve grandchildren – Alena Alsruhe, Matthew Pollard, Elyse Loosararian-Obaldo, Andrew Pollard, John Loosararian, Sarah Pollard, Jake Loosararian, Vlad Kalian, Katie Loosararian, Kirk Kalian, Stephanie Hutchinson, and Nicholas Krikorian; three great-grandchildren – Landon Pollard, Ryan Pollard, and Isaac Loosararian; ten nieces and nephews – Noni Vartabedian DeBlasio, Gregory Atanossian, Margaret Vartabedian, Warren Garabedian, Michael Ahlijanian, Gregory Garabedian, Paul Ahlijanian, Roxanne Russo, David Garabedian, and Kathy Damen, and several great nieces and nephews.
Margaret grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, and moved to Maryland shortly after marrying George Krikorian. As the family moved from Maryland to California, Scotland, England, and back to Maryland, Margaret made many dear lifetime friends at each new location. This began a lifetime love of travel. Margaret was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother whose love of cooking doubled as an expression of her love for family and friends. Holidays and family celebrations were her favorite times. She was a devoted volunteer with the church Ladies Guild, and happily shared in the preparation of many church-sponsored meals. She was instrumental in the publication of three editions of a cookbook, "Poetry in Portions: An Armenian American Cookbook", first published in 1981. The book features many of her favorite recipes. Her cooking was so popular that she opened a catering business with close friends, which operated for several years. She lived her final year of life at Ashleigh at Lansdowne, where she made many new and dear friends, both staff and residents.
