Maria Esther Ortiz went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 23, 2014. Born on February 16, 1930 in Puerto Rico, she had two brothers, Jose (Toñi) Perez (deceased) and Efrain Perez.

"Esther", as everyone called her was 84 years old. She worked as a teacher's aide for many years for New York City Public Schools but the best job she ever had was that of mother and Grandmother. Her family endearingly called her "Ita" a name given to her by her granddaughter.

Although she will be dearly missed, her memories will continue to live on and be cherished by the loved ones she leaves behind.
Esther is survived by her husband: Antonio Ortiz Otero; Granddaughters: Jennifer Rosa and Jessica Lopez; Great Grandchildren: Jonathan, Justin, Raymond, Jasmine, David Jr. and Jesslyn.

She lived a long and full life, she loved us well, and we will miss her.

There will be a going home service held at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1st from 12:00 – 2:00 pm during which time a service will be held at 1:00 pm.
