Marie Elizabeth Thompson after fighting the good fight against cancer left us at October 21st at age 76 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Marie was born and raised in Leesburg, VA. She was the daughter of the late Hubert F. and Mary E. McWilliams. She was predeceased by her sister Edna Fry, a daughter Terry Lynn Thompson and a grandson Robert L. White. Survivors include son LeRoy A. Thompson of Leesburg, Virginia, a daughter Deborah J. White, son-in-law Kenneth L. White, grandson William C. White of Virginia Beach Virginia, sister Bessie Gillum of Leesburg, VA and many nieces and cousins.

Marie always had a green thumb and loved displaying her beautiful flowers outside her apartment for others to enjoy. She knew no stranger. Her exuberant laughter, immense generosity, and kind heart touched all who came into contact with her. Marie was a devoted mother and friend. She was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed. The highest comfort is in knowing that we will see her again in Heaven.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25, 2012 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176. A service is scheduled for Friday, October 26, 2012 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Virginia.
