Obituary

Marion LaPiana Bulger was born April 14, 1916 in New York City. While she and Theodore (deceased 2012), her husband of 62 years, went to the same Manhattan middle school, they did not meet until they were adults. In 1939 they eloped to Manassas, Virginia and in 1940 celebrated the sacrament of matrimony in New York City. As Ted was a church organist they moved frequently with his appointments at churches in Pennsylvania, Arkansas and New York. During WWII Marion was a "Rosie the Riveter" in Little Rock, Arkansas. In Amsterdam New York she became a mother to their daughter Barbara. Eventually settling in New Jersey, Marion, in addition to being a homemaker, worked for McGraw-Hill Publishing Company. After retirement they settled in Leesburg near the Purcellville home of Barbara, son-in-law Bob and granddaughters Thea and Alda. While Marion missed her outings with her former coworkers and her bridge club and church friends, she enjoyed being with her grandchildren and doing volunteer work. As the wife and mother of organists and choir directors, she was continually drafted to add her soprano voice to both church and community choirs. Never idle, she produced many knitted, crocheted and embroidered crafts and clothes. While her last years were difficult, given loss of sight, hearing, mobility and her mate, she remained positive until close to her end, expressing gratitude for company and graciously asking visitors "Can I get you anything?" She passed peacefully at Heritage Hall in Leesburg on November 14, 2014.

Services will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Church of Our Savior Oatlands. Burial to follow in Church of Our Savior Cemetery, Oatlands, Virginia.
