Obituary

Martha Staley Harbison, 95, avid bridge player and Lady Vols supporter graduated to Heaven July 11, 2009. A native of Knoxville, TN, she spent the winters in Leesburg with her son-in-law and daughter Bill and Janice Webb from 1985-2003. She moved to Leesburg in 2005 and became an active member of the Goose Creek Bridge Club.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Mrs. Harbison was an enthusiastic football and basketball supporter, attending home games until 2002. She was a Charter Member of Central United Methodist Church in Knoxville where she served as Sunday School teacher, president of the Women's Society of Christian Service and president of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Akima Club, a civic group, Knoxville Book Club and several bridge clubs.

Mrs. Harbison is survived by two daughters, Janice Webb and Lynn Batson, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Hillard and Iva Staley, and her husband John R. Harbison, Jr.

A service will be held on July 14, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE, Leesburg, VA 20176.

Her memory would be honored by contributions to Loudoun County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1178, Leesburg, VA 20176 or the
Loudoun Interfaith Relief, P.O. Box 6042, Leesburg, VA 20178.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Capitol Hospice and Inova Loudoun Hospital for their caring attention during Mrs. Harbison's illness.
