Martha Hooper Zajic, 91, of Leesburg, Virginia died April 26, 2010. She was born October 10th, 1918 in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania to Margaret Bonsall Hooper and Adolphus Brown Hooper. She graduated from Hahnemann Medical College School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was employed as a school nurse in Delaware County, Pennsylvania; at which time she became active in the Girl Scouts of America as leader and camp nurse. She also volunteered her services to the American Red Cross in various health operations. Mrs. Zajic enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps as 2nd Lt., WWII Victory and Philippine Liberation Ribbons.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Zajic, whom she met and married while in the service. She is survived by her children, Gregg Zajic (Diana) of Chelsea, MI; Keith Zajic (Cher) of Calabasas, CA; Gail Nolan (Patrick) of Leesburg, VA; and Martha DeSollar (Daniel) of Yorba Linda, CA; and nine grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Arlington Cemetery Columbarium.
