Mary M. Corpe, 91 of Leesburg, VA passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Sunrise of Leesburg Assisted Living facility in Leesburg, VA.

Mrs. Corpe was born on May 21, 1925 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Clinton & Eleanor Milham. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Alma, MI and then went on to attend college in her hometown at Alma College.

After earning her Bachelor's degree at Alma College in 1946, she accepted a position in Chicago at the Argonne National Laboratories working on the Manhattan Project. She went on to get her Masters degree in Educational Guidance at the University of Wisconsin.

It was at the University of Wisconsin that she met her future husband, William A. Corpe. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage and spent more than 30 years in Closter, NJ raising their family. Mary was involved in numerous volunteer organizations, including the Closter Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Closter Nature Center, PTA, AAUW, MADD as well as 25 years of what she described as "professional substitute teaching" in the local public schools.

Mary is survived by her two children, Richard Corpe (Karen) of Purcellville, VA and Linda Bibb (Dan) of Sarasota, FL. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Allison, Mallory, Hailey, Elizabeth, Andrew & Christopher. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Milham of Augusta, GA, and her sister, Barbara Milham of Alma, MI.

A memorial service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA on August 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
