Mary Jane Smith, 67, of Leland, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Mother, the late Catherine Orrison and father, the late Henry Orrison. Survivors include her husband, Walker Smith, Jr. of Leland; one daughter, Laurie Smith of North Hollywood, California; one son, Henry Smith and his wife, Elena Smith of Nokesville, Virginia; one granddaughter, Emma Smith also of Nokesville, Virginia; and two sisters, Dorothy Thomas of Adelphi, Maryland and Peggy Nicholson of Woodbridge, Virginia and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Virginia, graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. She held several positions in banking and insurance.

She adored her granddaughter, spending time with her children and pets, reading as well as traveling to various states throughout the country.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, N.E., Leesburg, Virginia 20176. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Research, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
